Pico de intensidad previsto de 70 kts.

ISELLE con paso firme, caminando hacia la Categoría 1. Núcleo central muy compacto sobre su centro y como casi siempre, las agencias algo conservadoras, porque es seguro de que tiene algo más que esos 50 kts.

Buen repunte

Está resultando ser un sistema relativamente pequeño pero muy potente. Mantiene un pequeño ojo y topes muy fríos especialmente en su cuadrante sureste, con temperaturas en torno a -75ºC.
 En el último parte 95kt 968 hPa

Con estas características está bastante más cerca de parecerse a HALONG que al resto de sistemas tropicales activos que tenemos en la lista. En la vecina cuenca del Atlántico, Bertha con 1012 hPa no le hace ni sombra.

 El pacífico está que se sale esta temporada, de una punta a la otra...

Pues según ADT, ya tendría que haber sido upgradeada a Categoría 3 desde hace horas, porque a estas horas, se acerca ya a la Categoría 4. Eso sí, mejoran las condiciones de cizalladura hasta los 0-5 kts., convergencia, divergencia y vorticidad, pero a poco que suba algo de latitud, se encontrará con aguas más frescas y un "murallón de aire seco, que la puede desarmar en poco tiempo. Poco a poco va fortaleciéndose, de momento sube a 110 nudos. Y con características anulares

Así es, compañero. Sistema chiquitín, pero matón, que alcanza en estos momentos la Categoría 4 con 115 kts.. Las islas van a recibir la visita de dos ciclones tropicales potentes, con poco intervalo de tiempo.

Si, pues con esa estructura no va a ser demasiado fácil desmontarlo pese a ser pequeño. Ni rastro de ciclos de reemplazo y un anillo convectivo aislado pero macizo. Como ya ha apuntado Pepe, ha ido ganando características de ciclón tropical anular...

Iselle se refuerza aún más: 120kt - 947hPa


Jeff Masters comenta esto en su blog, haciendo especial mención a la anularidad de Iselle:

Hurricane Iselle continued to intensify overnight, reaching Category 3 strength with 125 mph winds at 5 am EDT on Monday. Iselle is likely at peak intensity, since ocean temperatures beneath the storm are now 26°C, which is marginal for maintaining a hurricane. Iselle is headed westwards at 10 mph towards Hawaii, and could affect the Hawaiian Islands as a tropical storm by Thursday night. Satellite images show an impressive storm with a large eye, good symmetry, and plenty of upper-level outflow. The relative lack of spiral bands and large, thick eyewall qualify Iselle to be a rare breed of hurricanes known as "annular". Annular hurricanes are a subset of intense tropical cyclones that are significantly stronger, maintain their peak intensities longer, and weaken more slowly than average tropical cyclones. The latest SHIPS model output indicates that Iselle has passed the initial screening step to be considered an annular hurricane, and the model's "Annular Hurricane Index" shows a high level of annularity for the hurricane. Only 4% of all hurricanes are annular hurricanes. The most recent annular hurricane in the Eastern Pacific that I am aware of was Category 4 Hurricane Kenneth of November 2011.
