Ayer hicimos una circular por la sierra de Entzia en territorios limítrofes de Navarra y Álava. Fue una preciosidad. Salimos de Larraona hacia la ermita de San Benito y allí penetramos en el hayedo, una delicia para caminar. Además, la primera cumbre esconde un tesoro que seguro que le gustará. Después bajamos por los pastos y nos fuimos a comer a Eulate, cuna de los mejores quesos del país. Pero eso se lo contaré más tarde...
Ubicación: Sierra de Entzia, Álava.
Cimas: Aitzluze (1.035m) y Murube (1.108m).
Desnivel acumulado: 384m.
Distancia: 9,6km.
Duración: 3h.
Acceso: Partimos desde la localidad navarra de Larraona. Desde Donostia salimos dirección Vitoria por la N-1. Pasamos Alsasua y tomamos la salida de Salvatierra/Agurain para seguir dirección Opakua. Coronamos el puerto y comenzamos el descenso siguiendo siempre dirección Larraona. 10:15. Dejamos el coche en la parte alta de Larraona (779m) y tomamos la pista que se dirige a los pastos.

10:45. Ermita de San Benito (951m), ubicada en un paraje tranquilo. Luego iremos por la senda de la izquierda (flecha negra).

Tirando de GPS nos desviamos del sendero para perder altura hacia el noroeste. Debemos atravesar un bosque algo sucio.

12:32. El GPS nos lleva a esta pista (993m), que viene de Opakua. La seguimos hacia el oeste.

LAS NOTAS (La escala es del 1 al 5):
DIFICULTAD: 3. La distancia y el desnivel son muy asequibles, pero hay un tramo en el hayedo que puede plantear dificultades si no se lleva un GPS.
BELLEZA DEL ITINERARIO: 3,5. Quietud a raudales, bellos parajes y preciosos hayedos.
IMPORTANCIA DE LA CUMBRE: 2,5.
Y ASÍ LO VIO MI PADRE: Mi partenaire me comenta que "fue una preciosa excursión bucólica".
En Eulate estuvimos con Ricardo Remiro, el Messi del queso, el ganador de numerosos premios nacionales e internacionales, al que se le han agotado las existencias hasta abril... Comimos en el Alai y regresamos a casa con un queso de Mónica Ruiz de Larramendi. Tiene buena pinta.
