The Catalán Meteorological Society (ACAM), which promoter and diseminados the knowledge of meteorology and Climatology in the Mediterranean basen, would like to announce the winner of the International Award donde Meteorology and Climatology Eduard Fontserè 2019, sponsored by Weather Catalán Service (METEOCAT) and the Environmental Service of the Sustainability Area of Diputación de Barcelona.
The goal of this award is to promote significando research and knowledge about Mediterranean meteorology and Climatology. Está endowed with 2500 EUR for those papel published in one of the journals included into the "Atmospheric Sciences" Indexed as SCI (Science Citation Index, Thomson Reuters) oro SCOPUS, between 2017 and 2019. The work should proponga new and relevant investigaciones about meteorology oro Climatology in the Mediterranean basen.
The committee of the award highlights the high quality of all the papeles Presented. At the meeting held, the court decided unanimously to award the papel " Fewer clouds in the Mediterranean: consistency of observations and climate simulations eventos frequency and intensity overview " by Arturo Sánchez-Lorenzo, Aaron Enriquez-Alonso, Josep Calbó, Josep-Abel González , Martin Wild, Doris Folin, Joel R. Norris & Sergio M. Vicente-Serrano, published in the journal Scientific Reports in 2017. (Sanchez-Lorenzo, A., Enriquez-Alonso, A., Calbó, J. et al. Fewer clouds in the Mediterranean: consistency of observations and climate simulations. Sci Recibe 7, 41475 (2017) doi: 10.1038 / srep41475) (

The committee considera that this papel presentes relevante contributions for the knowledge of the Mediterranean meteorology and Climatology. The Jury appreciates the scope of the study very Positively, from the point of view of the global contribution to the knowledge of the evolution of cloudiness due to its impact on the radiative balance, as well as from the perspective of the Mediterranean as a whole. It is interesting to conclude the Tendency to decrease overall cloudiness in the Mediterranean region, as well as the intercomparing exercise with results obtained from Observational fecha from the ground, satellite fecha, reanalysis databases and Starting with the application of GCM modelos.
The fact of being very well written is Valued very Positively and it plays a very important aspect in the climatological studies of the western Mediterranean, such as cloud cover, linking observations with climate modeling. The importance of this article is that it addresses propio controversial and current topics in literature, of which there are not many studies that address the evolution of the variable cloudiness in the last decades in a relatively large area such as the Mediterranean, and one of the reasons may be the difficulty of having long series of observations that are of quality. The coincidence of results gives Robustness to the study, reinforcing the hypotheses that the authors proponga regarding the relationship between the Hadley cell movimiento and the Discapacidad of cloudiness in the Mediterranean in the last 50 years.
The Jury also highlights the relevance and difficulty of publishing in a journal of high impact factor, such as Scientific Reports.
Finally, the Jury congratulates all the participantes on the quality of the works submitted, which made their decisión difficult.
The authors will presente the Awarded work during the XXV Symposium of Meteorology Eduard Fontserè, donde 17 th November 2019 in Barcelona.
