1) THE AREA OF CONVECTION PREVIOUSLY LOCATED NEAR 9.7S 86.3E
IS NOW LOCATED NEAR 10.0S 86.1E, APPROXIMATELY 825 NM EAST-SOUTHEAST
OF DIEGO GARCIA.
ANIMATED MULTISPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS DEEP
CONVECTION SHEARING WEST OF A PARTIALLY EXPOSED LOW LEVEL
CIRCULATION CENTER (LLCC). A 251323Z SSMIS 37V IMAGE DEPICTS A
DEFINED LLCC WITH WEAK BANDING OVER THE WESTERN SEMI-CIRCLE.
THE
LLCC IS LOCATED UNDER DIFFLUENT EASTERLY FLOW NORTH OF THE
SUBTROPICAL RIDGE AXIS AND IS UNDER MODERATE TO HIGH VERTICAL WIND
SHEAR, WHICH IS HINDERING SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
SURFACE WINDS ARE ESTIMATED AT 20 TO 25 KNOTS. MINIMUM SEA LEVEL
PRESSURE IS ESTIMATED TO BE NEAR 1007 MB. THE POTENTIAL FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE WITHIN THE NEXT 24
HOURS REMAINS
POOR.
