No sé por qué estáis todos tan obsesionados con 1985. De esa fecha no hay ni una sola foto, ni menos vídeo (yo por más que he buscado, no he encontrado nada), prueba definitiva de que en 1985 la congelación fue mínima; nada que ver con las de principios del siglo XX.

Es algo espectacular, pero no se en que os vasais que sea una consecuencia del cambio climatico, en diciembre del 2001 el pequeño embalse que hace el rio Guadarrama a su paso por mi urbanizacion se helo completamente varios dias y en casi 40 años que tiene la urbanizacion, nunca habia ocurrido, eso es cambio climatico??o algo circustancial??

Interesante dato. Mapa de esas fechas:

Impresionante que en 1694 el hielo llegase a 3 metros de grosor!!!  .Parece ser que fue el punto álgido de la Edad de Hielo en esa zona

Bastante complicado que se repita con esa duracion e intensidad mas que nada porque las temperaturas han subido, y lo segiran haciendo.

Parece ser que el fenómeno fue relativamente frecuente hasta 1850, haciéndose desde entonces cada vez más raro. Hay alguna publicación al repecto, pero no son de libre acceso, por ej Freezing of the Venetian Lagoon since the 9th century A.D. in comparision to the climate of western Europe and England, en Climatic Change de Feb del 87, de un tal Camuffo que parece que es el que más ha estudiado el tema. Este Camuffo dice que la laguna se helaba con relativa frecuencia desde el siglo XIV hasta 1850 y que desde entonces ha sido un fenómeno muy raro. Adjunto pintura  de la helada de 1708.

Bueno, pues he podido echar un vistazo al texto completo del artículo de Camuffo.
Los años que propone como aquellos con congelaciones más notables de la Laguna veneciana, son (desde el siglo XV): 1432, 1443, 1487, 1491, 1549, 1709, 1716, 1740, 1755, 1758, 1789, 1864, 1929, 1956, 1985.

Hay que tener también en cuenta que las diversas obras hidráulicas llevadas a cabo en la laguna a lo largo de los siglos han ido afectando a la facilidad de congelación. En general, han tendido a dificultar la congelación.

Cito a Camuffo:

"However, before trying to draw conclusions about the severity of these
events and possible long term climatic changes, we must note that in the meantime the
major tributaries of the Lagoon were diverted into the open sea, and the severity of the
atmospheric conditions necessary for freezing was no longer the same (...)
This enormous work began in 1324 when the Brenta was diverted to the
south. The main stages in the progress of the work were: in 1505-7 the new canal
Osellin diverted the Marzenego, the Zero and the Dese far to the east of Venice; in 1530
the Brenta was diverted into the sea after many partial displacements; in 1579 the Piave
was diverted into the open sea although this work continued for many more years; in
1613 some minor rivers (Botinico, Lusor, Brentella and Musone) were diverted into the
Brenta; in 1683 the Sile was diverted into the old bed of the Piave but with a new outlet
leading to the open sea. A very complex network of canals were dug, especially during
the 17th and 18th centuries.
From this scenario we can see that the hydraulic activities lowered the freezing point
of the Lagoon."

" 1929: For this event we have a complete description by first-hand observers, especially
by Crestani (1932, 1933) of the Magistrato alle Acque and Zanon (1929) of the
Cavanis Observatory. Arctic air blew over Venice beginning in January. At the end of
January a second heavy fall of snow occured (22 cm); a third snowfall (7 cm) occurred
in mid February. The snow lasted till March 8. The daily mean temperature was below
0 till February 18. The coldest day was February 12, and the temperature ranged between
-8.5 and -13 ~ Ice appeared on the external part of the Lagoon and in some internal
canals on February 3, with a cold (-10 ~ Bora inflow. On February 10, 11, 12, 13 the
cold Bora and snowfall caused the complete freezing of the Lagoon and canals. The
synoptic situation of that period was characterized by easterly flow of continental polar
air (and an anticyclonic Bora at Venice), generated by a vast anticyclonic area centered
over Scandinavia and a deep depression over the central Mediterranean and Italy, originated,
presumably, by the release of sensible and latent heat from the relatively warm
Mediterranean water. The ice thickness ranged between 15 and 20 cm. Melting began on
February 18 and ended on 24."

" 1956: On February 1 snow. There was arctic and polar air in the following days.
The north-eastern part of the Lagoon froze. On the 4 people walked over the Lagoon near
the estuary. On February 10 snow over the whole Italy;strong Bora at Venice;minimum
temperature: -8 ~ The ice melted between February 21 and 26 when the temperature became milder and finally the snow turned into rain. The severity of this event can not
be compared with that of 1929. "

"1985: On January 5 snow. The synoptic situation was generally 'weather type A' as
defined by the U.K. Meteorological Office, characterized by northern flows of arctic or
polar air. The minimum temperature was -12 ~ on January 7 and 11. On January 5 and
6 the meteorological situation was of the 'type D' characterized by an easterly wind
transporting continental polar air masses, similar to the case in 1929. Anticyclonic Bora
and snow at Venice. The marshes froze. On January 7 a Dark Bora and high tide level
(+ 91 cm, new moon). Notwithstanding this situation unfavourable for freezing, the canals
froze and people walked on the marshlands. In the following days the weather type was A
and it snowed on January 8. The cold air masses and the reduction of the tidal excursion
toward the syzygy (on 14) caused the ice to thicken. On January 12 the ice extended
between Punta Sabbioni, S. Erasmo, Burano, Torcello and Ca' Zane on the eastern side
of the Lagoon. People walked over it. After January 14 the meteorological situation
changed: the warm southern Scirocco caused a rise in the temperature and there was
rainfall on the 16. The ice disappeared. The event was not noticeable, but limited in the
eastern part of the Lagoon. It was not as severe as in 1929."
