2004 May 7.08 UT: m1=3.6, coma= 15', DC=6, Tail= 0,5 deg. in PA 130 10x50 B, 8.5cmR (R. Fefferman, Festus, MO.)  Comet very interesting to look at with very faint short tail.  At 24x in TV-85, suggestion of faint gas tail encapsulated by broad vague dust tail; best seen when telescope is slowly moved back and forth.  Prominent central condensation.  Distinctly visible to naked eye but by no means dazzling.  Somewhat reminiscent of Comet Levy C/1990c, about equally bright but with only a weak tail.
*2004 May 7.13 UT: m1=3.9, Dia=16', DC=5, Tail=45' at PA=120...7x50B...Wayne Itokazu (Albuquerque, NM USA)[Observed from NE Heights overlooking ABQ metro...moderate light pollution...Sidgwick method...Definitely better than yesterday's obs although still a binocular object inside the city, barely perceptible using averted vision with the naked eye]
*2004 May 7.27 UT: m1=3.2, Dia=15', DC=6, tail 2.5 deg in pa 120...10x50B...Mike Linnolt (Honolulu, HI) [In-Out method. Tycho2+Bessell. Some light pollution. Little change from yesterday, but tail appears to be "split" into 2 more distinct components now.]
*2004 May 7.46 UT: m1=2.9, Dia=25', DC=8...naked eye...Andrew Pearce (Nedlands,Western Australia)[Tail 2.7 deg long in PA 125 deg observed in binoculars. Mag estimate with the 8x40B at May 7.46UT: m1=3.2, Dia=14', DC=7. I have to agree with Charles Morris' sentiments on this comet, the tail is just not as prominent as in April!]
*2004 May 7.46 UT: m1=3.4, DC=8...naked eye...Yoshimi Nagai(Nagano, Japan) [Morris Method. Mag estimate with the 7x35B at May 7.45UT: m1=3.6, Dia=12', DC=6.]

*2004 May 14.42 UT: m1=3.5, Dia ~ 20', DC = 8, dust tail = 4 deg in PA 110 deg...6" f/6...George Di Scala (Sydney, Australia)[ion tail less prominent than last night, visual estimate of diameter made with 6" f/6 newtonian, dust tail about 1 deg naked eye, coma easy naked eye, bright false nucleus in small aperture telescopes, observation from dark sky]
*2004 May 14.52 UT: m1=3.8, Dia=12', DC=7...8x40B...Andrew Pearce (Nedlands,Western Australia)[Broad and faint tail 1.7 deg long in PA 108 deg observed in binoculars. Comet appears to be fading rather rapidly. Mag estimate with naked eye at May 14.52UT: m1=3.8, DC=8.]
