At 15:05 an earthquake of M5.3 was detected some 20 km NE of Siglufjörður. Felt reports have been received from various places in North Iceland. An earthquake swarm is ongoing 20km NE of Siglufjörður.

Seismic activity around Grindavík: Seismic activity increased around Grindavík in the end of May, since then almost 2500 earthquakes have been located there, most of them below M1.0. The increased activity is due to deformation caused by magmatic intrusion at few km depth.
