Tormenta Ciclónica MAHASEN (01.B -Tormenta T.S.S- Golfo De Bengala - Índico N)

Issued at (19:00) hours MST on (11- 5-2013)

According to the observations at (18:30) hrs M.S.T today,the Cyclonic Storm (MAHASEN) over Southeast Bay is centered at about (550)miles, southwest of Kawthong (Myanmar) and (420)miles, southwest of Coco-Island, Myanmar.The Cyclonic Storm (MAHASEN) is moving Northwestwards with maximum wind speed is estimated (50-60)miles per hour near the cyclone center. It is likely to intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm within next (24)hrs.

Under the influence of Cyclonic Storm, occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)mph.

The present stage of the Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage and it is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, it is forecast to recurve Northeast ward on afternoon of 13th May 2013 and likely to cross between Northern Rakhine (Myanmar) and Bangladesh Coasts 16th May 2013 Morning.

Trawlers, vessels and ships are advised to avert possible danger by cyclone.

Que por cierto, se ha ido mucho más al W de lo previsto por la marina y el IMD, tal y como predijo el GFS.

Pues a pesar de estar mal organizada, ya ha provocado el hundimiento de un ferry con más de 100 pasajeros, frente a las costas de Myanmar. De momento nada se sabe de muertos y desaparecidos.

Finalmente no alcanzó la categoría de Huracán, pero se quedó en las puertas.
