In the above image we can see just one of these model runs. The model assumes a 10-20 year doubling time for rate of land ice melt. It contributes equal portions of melt from Greenland in the north and Antarctica in the south. Greenhouse gas accumulation is considered to be along the moderate case A1B track. By 2080 we have about six feet of sea level rise globally and about 600 parts per million CO2 in the atmosphere. The more rapid rate of melt has put a temporary damper on the rate of global atmospheric warming which has dipped to 1.11 C above 1880s values (just slightly higher than today). But much of this cooling is localized to the Southern Ocean and to an extreme cold pool in the North Atlantic between Northwestern Europe and Greenland.

A estas altura, Doom, que utilices proyecciones/gráficas de Hansen, con su credibilidad, no tiene demasiado fuelle. Pero cada uno escoge a sus profetas.

No creo que la actual anomalía negativa en el Atlántico Norte...



... tenga mucho que ver con el deshielo en Groenlandia. Más bien sería es una cuestión relacionada con NAO, y las condiciones de circulación atmoférica de meses y años pasados, a su vez afectando y relacionado con la fuerza del Giro Subpolar,  AMO, etc.

Vamos, que durante los últimos 15 años hemos visto también anomalías positivas en esa zona, mientras la pérdida de hielo de Groenlandia iba acelerando. Y, ahora mismo, precisamente el deshielo de Groenlandia lleva un par de años con pérdidas de hielo muy discretas, claramente menores que durante los diez años anteriores.

Terminada la temporada de deshielo si tomamos Groenlandia en conjunto, el casquete de hielo ha ganado en la temporada 2014-2015 unas 200 Gt en base al balance de masa superficial (un valor cercano a la media 1990-2013):



Para conocer el balance total de masa del casquete de hielo hay que añadir la descarga, las Gt de los icebergs que hayan soltado al mar los glaciares de terminación marina. Para hacernos una idea, habrá que esperar a los datos de GRACE.

Hay arboles en el Sur en Narsarsuaq porque 11°C de media en Julio (7°C/15°C)/.

... there are some fascinating developments in the Arctic region this year: A huge area of North America and the North Atlantic, including Greenland, has been colder than normal so far this year. Remember, this area is supposed to be the canary in the coal mine.

Según informa el DMI, el 27 de agosto en Summit se registro la temperatura más baja medida allí en un mes de agosto: -39,6ºC

Actualizados los datos de GRACE en Polar Portal, pero de momento sólo hasta julio (en agosto ha habido muy poco deshielo superficial, así que el punto de dicho mes dependerá de la posible descarga de icebergs; en todo caso, parece que no debería bajar mucho más del nivel de julio):
